Counter-Strike 1.6

Counter Strike 1.6 is frequently shortened to CS, it is a first person tactical shooting game from Valve Corporation. You have the choice during game play to join teams with the terrorists or join teams with the counter terrorists. Each team has a mission objective and their goal is to either complete that objective or eliminate the other team. Each team is reborn or spawned at the beginning of each round.

There are eight character models for the players to choose from and four default models for each of the teams. Before actual play begins there is a period of time known as “freeze” time that allows the player the opportunity to go purchase equipment and prepare for the game. During this time the player cannot walk or move around. If a player survives a round of play they retain all their equipment, but if they are killed during a round they must begin the next round with only the basic equipment.

When a player is killed they are called spectators for the remainder of that round. A player cannot change their names or players until they spawn again. Killed players cannot send or receive text or chat messages from living players. This is to try and prevent a type of cheating known as ghosting, where living players are relayed information about their opponents from spectators.

The scoreboard will display statistics about individual players as well as the scores of the two teams. Each player has statistics such as their names, number of kills and number of deaths. The information concerning the players opponents are kept hidden from view until a player is killed. Players receive bonuses for winning a round, when they lose a round, when they kill an enemy, for being the first player to give instructions to a hostage and for defusing a bomb.
