Starcraft is a video game that is played with real time strategy, the entire premise of the game is a military science fiction game. This game was designed and released for use with Microsoft windows in 1998 and by 2009 the game had sales of over 11 million copies. It is the best selling game ever designed for use on a personal computer. In 1999 a version of the popular game was introduced for Mac users, and in 2000 Nintendo 64 had their own version of this game as well.
The play of the game revolves around different species that are fighting for control of a distant galaxy that is known as the Koprulu Sector. There are humans in the Koprulu sector that have been exiled from earth and are known to be able to adapt to any situation or lifestyle. These human exiles are called Terrans. There are also some aliens there who are like giant insects; they are in search of creating genetic perfection. These alien insectoids are known as the Zerg and they are known for their obsession with the assimilation of other species and races. Finally there are another group located there that are humanoid and that possess advanced technology, their main goal is to preserve their way of life and defend it all from the Zerg.
This game is extremely popular in South Korea, they have competitions for players on a professional level that compete in televised tournaments and even have sponsorships.
The game has both single player and multi-player modes of play. This is commonly referred to as the single best video game that was ever created to play in a real time strategy type of play. The manual tells the story as you play along and you get involved in the civilization and inhabitants of this galaxy somewhere at the edges of the Milky Way.
